Referrals Are the Heartbeat of My Business

Referrals Are the Heartbeat of My Business

And Why They'll Never Feel Like "Just Another Lead"

One of the questions I get asked fairly often is where my business comes from.

The answer is actually pretty simple.

People.

Not paid internet leads. Not Zillow. Not Homes.com. Not cold calls or purchased contact lists.

People.

Friends telling friends. Families introducing family. Past clients sharing my name with coworkers. Someone in the community saying, "You should call Ashley."

Honestly, I can't think of a greater compliment.

Every referral reminds me that someone trusted me enough with one of the biggest decisions in another person's life. That's not something I ever take lightly.

Referrals Tell a Story

The really neat thing about referrals is that they all look a little different.

Just this week, I had the opportunity to close on a home for a client who was referred to me by someone in our community. I connected with a new buyer because a friend took the time to make an introduction. And I was incredibly honored when another Realtor reached out and trusted me enough to help his own daughter.

Three completely different stories.

One common thread.

Trust.

That's what referrals are really built on.

Why They Mean So Much

Every referral carries more than just an introduction.

It carries someone's confidence.

When you recommend a business, you're putting a little bit of your own reputation alongside theirs. You're saying, "I believe they'll take care of you."

That's a responsibility I don't take lightly.

It's why I believe communication matters.

It's why I stay personally involved throughout every transaction.

It's why I continue learning, continue growing, and continue trying to make each experience better than the last.

Because someone believed I would show up.

I want to honor that.

The Best Way to Make an Introduction

One thing I wish more people knew is that introducing someone to a Realtor doesn't have to feel awkward.

In fact, there's a really simple way to make the process easier for everyone.

Instead of saying,

"Here's Ashley's number. Reach out when you get a chance."

Consider sending a quick group text instead.

Something as simple as:

"Ashley, I'd love for you to meet my friend Sarah. Sarah is starting to think about buying a home, and I immediately thought of you two. I'll let you take it from here!"

That's it.

That one introduction removes so much pressure.

Nobody has to wonder who should reach out first.

The conversation simply begins naturally.

Community Builds Community

One of the things I love most about living and working in the Shenandoah Valley is how connected our communities still are.

One introduction leads to another.

Neighbors help neighbors.

Families support families.

Local businesses recommend one another.

It's one of the reasons I love what I do.

This business has never felt transactional to me.

It's always felt relational.

My Promise

If you've ever trusted me with a referral...

Thank you.

Thank you for believing I'd take care of someone important to you.

Whether it's a first-time homebuyer, someone relocating to the Shenandoah Valley, a growing family, or someone ready for their next chapter, I promise to treat every referral with the same care, communication, and professionalism that earned that trust in the first place.

Because referrals aren't just how my business grows.

They're the heartbeat of it.

And I couldn't be more grateful for every single one. 🤍
