I’m a firm believer in this phrase: if it’s meant to be, it’ll be.
I’ve seen it play out so many times in real estate, especially when things feel discouraging or like they’re falling apart. Sometimes what feels like a setback is actually the universe quietly rerouting you to something better.
Let me share a couple of real stories that still stick with me.
The farmhouse that came back around
I once had clients who found a little farmhouse and fell completely head over heels for it. The kind of house that just felt right. It had been on the market for a bit, we were preparing an offer, and then boom, another offer came in and beat them to it.
They were crushed.
We kept looking at other homes, but nothing compared. It just didn’t feel the same. Then, about three weeks later, I got a call. The buyers who had gone under contract were backing out after the home inspection.
I asked if we could review the inspection report for my clients. I sent it over, they looked through everything, and nothing in the report scared them off. In fact, it gave them clarity. They moved forward, went under contract, and purchased the home they had fallen in love with from the start.
Sometimes timing really is everything.
When the “backup plan” leads to something better
Another client needed to sell her home in order to buy her next one. Her home was under contract, and she was also under contract to purchase another home. It wasn’t her dream location, but it worked, and she was making it work.
Then the buyer for her home backed out. Cold feet. It happens, but it’s never easy.
We explained the situation to the seller of the home she was buying, and they agreed to stay under contract with a kick-out clause. That meant if they received another offer, they could remove her from the contract. She understood and was okay with it.
Unfortunately, another offer did come along, and she was kicked out of that contract. We had to go back on the market with her home and restart her home search.
And then the perfect home appeared.
A better location. A bigger home. A better value. The kind of home that immediately felt right. She was able to secure it, and her home went under contract again with a buyer who was willing to wait as long as she needed to make everything line up.
What initially felt like everything going wrong ended up putting her exactly where she was supposed to be.
Trusting the process
I love these stories because they remind me, and my clients, that there are often signs along the way. Sometimes a deal doesn’t work out for a reason. Sometimes a hiccup is actually protection. Sometimes it’s just guiding you toward something that fits better than what you originally thought you wanted.
Buying a home is a big deal. Whether it’s your first home, your next home, or an investment property, it’s a major financial and emotional decision. You deserve to feel confident, excited, and at peace with that purchase.
My role is to walk alongside you through the ups, the setbacks, and the wins, and to help you find a home you don’t just like, but truly love. One you can stay in love with for as long as it serves you, until it’s time to upgrade, downsize, or start a new chapter altogether.
If it’s meant to be, it’ll be. And I promise, when it is, it tends to work out exactly how it’s supposed to.
